When Marjorie Anderson-Versagli decided to retire after more than 30 years of floral artistry, she didn’t just want to hand over the keys—she wanted to pass on a legacy. That’s why she turned to someone she’d admired from afar: Karen Pecora, a seasoned event designer who owns Revel – a flower company that specializes in flowers and décor for weddings and other special events also the mother of local teen entrepreneur Dominick Pecora, recently honored as TIME Magazine’s Kid of the Year Honoree.
“I’ve watched Dom grow his bike shop from an idea into a community staple,” said Anderson-Versagli. “And I’ve seen how Karen brings beauty and meaning to everything she touches. I knew my shop would be in good hands.”
Now officially at the helm of Whitford at Malvern Flower Shop, Karen Pecora is bringing her design expertise and community spirit to the beloved storefront. With her son Dom continuing to lead his successful business just half a mile down the road or “a short bike ride away” as he says, the Pecora's are quickly becoming Malvern’s entrepreneurial power duo. Dinner table talk now includes everything from flower sourcing and seasonal installations to bike deliveries and youth-led service projects.
Their close proximity sparks synergy—and even a few imaginative ideas. “Who knows,” Karen laughs, “maybe next year your Mother’s Day flowers will be delivered by bike.”
“The first thing I think my Mom should change? She needs a vintage beach cruiser with a big basket to fill with colorful flowers propped up by the lighted sign out front. I can help her out with that” says Dom Pecora, age 16.
“This isn’t just about selling flowers,” Karen explains. “It’s about creating experiences, celebrating creativity, and serving the Malvern community in ways that feel fresh and authentic.”
As the town of Malvern continues to thrive with a mix of tradition and innovation, the Pecora family is helping shape its next chapter—one bouquet (and one bike ride) at a time. Two generations, Two storefronts, One vision for Community Growth. “I have always told Dom to dream big! I have always talked about one day owning my own community flower shop and now I am showing him first hand how to make your own goals and dreams become a reality.”
